Amy Grunder brings over 30 years of broad experience in human rights advocacy, law and communications to her role as MIRA Coalition’s lead advocate for state legislation. In this role, she leads MIRA’s advocacy for the Physician Pathway Act and other state bills and budget legislation promoting immigrant rights, education, inclusion, health and safety, working in coalition with MIRA members and allies.A graduate of UMass Boston, Amy began her advocacy career doing communications and program work at two Boston-based human rights organizations, Cultural Survival and Physicians for Human Rights.
Her passion for human rights and economic justice led her to pursue a JD and Master in International Affairs at American University. After graduating in 2002, she joined the Boston law firm of Palmer & Dodge LLP, where she took on her first pro bono asylum case. She subsequently began an appellate immigration asylum practice, and was appointed to the governing council of the Massachusetts Bar Association Immigration Law Section in 2010. She joined MIRA in 2015.
