Campaign Expects Unprecedented Numbers of New American Voters to Register to Vote for Fall 2008

What:

Leaders representing diverse immigrant, faith, and labor communities will be joined by Mayor Thomas M. Menino to launch the Ya Es Hora/Now’s the Time Voter Registration Campaign for the Greater Boston Area. The historic Ya Es Hora Campaign has already helped hundreds of thousands of legal permanent residents obtain US citizenship. The Ya Es Hora Voter Registration Drive is a national campaign that has been registering new American voters to increase voter participation among Latino communities. The Ya Es Hora/Now Is The Time kick off launches a Greater Boston effort, which brings together a diverse multiethnic, multilingual coaliton in collaboration with Ya Es Hora to increase voter participation and civic engagement among all the immigrant communities to unprecedented levels. Visuals: Mayor Menino will stand with advocate dressed as Lady Liberty and encourage all citizens to register to vote.
