Muslim Justice League: Deputy director

The Muslim Justice League (MJL) is seeking a candidate with extraordinary judgment, well-honed people skills, and passion for human and civil rights to join its team as Deputy Director. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to advance the mission of a locally driven non-profit already recognized for making a strong impact in its start-up phase.

The Deputy Director will manage MJL’s operational functions and also collaborate with the Executive Director to advance community education and organizing objectives. This position reports to the Executive Director, oversees interns and volunteers and, as MJL grows, may supervise additional staff. It is based at MJL’s office in Boston.

MJL is a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization defending human and civil rights against erosion under national security pretexts, through community education and organizing and legal and policy advocacy. It was founded in 2014 by four Muslim women in response to a need for locally driven advocacy by directly impacted communities to protect rights threatened in the name of counterterrorism. Its advocacy engages and advances the rights of people of all faiths and none. It is committed to critical analysis of the structural causes of rights violations and to promoting understanding of the connections among policies and practices that target various “suspect communities”.
