Events: Immigrants' Day

Annual Immigrants' Day at the State House

Immigrants’ Day At the State House is an annual event celebrating the progress and contributions immigrants have made to Massachusetts. It's also an important day of advocacy where immigrants and non-immigrants alike come together to make sure their voices are heard on important issues, such as citizenship for New Americans and civic participation, access to health care and education equality, adult basic education and ESOL.  This is one of MIRA's key events of the year, where we focus on building power together, growing community leaders, engaging voters, and making immigrants voices heard.

Last year, on April 6, over 500 members of the community came together to show their power at the State House. The MIRA Coalition would like to extend a special thanks to its members and allies who came from across Massachusetts to advocate for the foreign born.

A special thanks to Senator Sonia Chang Diaz and Representative Tim O'Day, Keynote speaker Reverend Hurmon Hamilton, program moderator Sherry Dong, the cultural presentation by Angkor Dance Troupe, those who gave testimony, and Paulo Pinto for final remaks.
