Events: Democracy School

Democracy School is an annual intensive two-day training in which youth leaders, organizers, community leaders, community members, all can learn essenial skills for better organizing a campaign and strengthening their work.

DemSchoolPhoto_banner2You are invited to join us for Democracy School 2015, with a special focus on diversity and structural racism. Together we will learn about the impact structural racism has on our democracy, and participate in dialogues on how to address the problem with effective anti-racism strategies, as well as how to build solidarity across social movements and more. Democracy School 2015 will be facilitated by the Union of Minority Neighborhoods and other experts.

Workshop Topics:

  • Understanding structural racism, past and present
  • Understanding relations of power
  • Strategies for cross-sector collaborations
  • Relationship and coalition building
  • Leadership development

WHEN: Friday, March 13, 12PM-5PM  & Saturday, March 14, 9AM-5 PM

COST: $30 MIRA Members / $50 non Members/ $25 students  (Scholarships Available)
